OUR FACILITIES

Located within the Randolph Centre for the Arts, the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts is an open, welcoming, sun-washed, participatory, exuberant celebration of song, dance and acting juxtaposed with community, practicality and excellence. Our school strives to be not only an institution that nurtures the careers of budding artists but to also be a boon to the neighborhood, local community, and the theatrical community.

The theatres and studios are used by students and faculty of The Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts as well as outside productions from professional theatrical performances and auditions to corporate seminars, private parties, concerts, film shoots, or rehearsal spaces.

While the theatres and studios are available for public rental, the focus is on providing our students and faculty with a beautiful and professional performance based space in which to develop their skills. Our ultimate vision is to provide a centre for community interaction, innovation and artistic support.

The Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts has been established to become Canada's premier incubator of fresh talent and provocative ideas. By providing a dynamic, enriched setting where imaginative and energetic young hopefuls can be teamed with disciplined professionals, we hope to cultivate and unleash an unparalleled new wave of creativity and innovation.

The Randolph Centre for the Arts' Bathurst Street Theatre is included in an Ontario Heritage Trust project about the adaptive reuse of places of worship. The Ontario Heritage Trust is dedicated to identifying, preserving, protecting and promoting Ontario’s rich and varied heritage for the benefit of present and future generations. The project, “Ontario’s Places of Worship”, is a province-wide comprehensive inventory of purpose built places of worship (e.g. churches, meeting houses, synagogues, temples, mosques, etc.) that were constructed pre-1980 and possess heritage value. As part of this work the Trust looked at a subset of these religious buildings that have been converted to new secular uses. “Ontario’s Places of Worship” can be found at www.heritagetrust.on.ca.

The school has several studios which are suited for dance, acting, music and performance arts of all natures. We have two performing venues: The Bathurst Street Theatre, our main space, and The Annex, a smaller, more intimate venue. The space has been renovated to suit the needs of the students and of the theatres. We have maintained the heritage architecture and have blended it with modern renovations in order to make the space beautiful, yet functional.
