Annex Theatre
730 Bathurst Street, Toronto

“One of the most resonant theatrical set pieces of the past 50 years.”
~ The New York Times

The question of "What price success?" is answered in a number of ways by, of, and about women through the ages in Caryl Churchill’s “very funny and provocative” (NY Post) Top Girls. Notorious women from history –- including Pope Joan, Lady Nijo, and Patient Griselda –- gather to celebrate Marlene’s promotion to managing director of a London employment agency. First, they share their extraordinary achievements -- travels, intellectual accomplishments, and love affairs. However, the table talk changes to reveal instances of suffering and loss by these women, and Marlene’s own sacrifices come to light.
